Can Companies Require Vaccination, and Should They?
Some companies consider the idea of demanding every employee to receive full vaccinations and will provide incentives to do so. However, they don’t want to make it sounds like a mandatory because companies don’t want to face litigations. Decision makers would rather avoid the headache of dealing with a group of disobedient employees because if 10% refuses to be vaccinated, companies shouldn’t fire them. Salesforce currently allowed all fully vaccinated employees to work together up to 100 people each floors in any office in the US.
Belonging Is Stronger Than Facts’: The Age of Misinformation
This article analyses really well about the polarization of two distinct groups of people in United States today. The prevalent influence of social media has made the situation even more obvious. Now people focus more on information that support their identity more than simply looking at the facts. For example, when a person sees a twitter posts that have the same belief and arguments against groups you consider nefarious, you tend to retweet those to your friends who also shares the same opinion as well. The likes and shares stats will also affect how you evaluate the value of sharing which don’t necessarily consist the facts and truths. With the ease of finding resources, we incline to only absorb information that strengthens our identities the author calls it belonging oriented instead of facts based. When we encounter resources that state the opposite views, we simply disregard and leave. It only worsens the already complicated polarization in United States. The more unstable the society is the more reliant we are in misinformation that establishes our identify in place of the truth.
“Put more simply, people become more prone to misinformation when three things happen. First, and perhaps most important, is when conditions in society make people feel a greater need for what social scientists call ingrouping — a belief that their social identity is a source of strength and superiority, and that other groups can be blamed for their problems.” – New York Times
To Be Tracked or Not? Apple Is Now Giving Us the Choice.
Apple recently updated iOS 14.5 has included some new features and the most important one is the tracking consent requesting feature. Whenever users open apps that track their activities, apple will have a pop window asking if users allow the tracking. Even some ads providers still have unique ways to track our activities, but if Apple finds out they did it without our approvals, people will offlist their apps on AppleStore. This is truly an upheaval to businesses heavily dependent on abs revenue as such Facebook. Facebook used an entire page of abs to criticize Apple’s action undermining small businesses. Apple is accused or stifling small businesses and of violating anti-competition law. Having this feature should enforce apps following standards and implement innocuous tracking features to certain extent. Although there are some controversies arisen (mostly from enterprise companies), the general feedback from the public is almost positive.
Twitch UX the anchor effect and de-risking decisions
UX designers stress two useful tricks to get more subscribers that pay. One is to use the anchor effect which you set higher bar first and then later when we see an option at a much lower price we can accept, we will mostly be more willing to pay for the subscription. For example, you can have a page where prices are listed from left to right from highest to lowest price. Also we shouldn’t force customer to top up at fixed options and should provide refund functionalities. Another technique is to help users coming to decision quickly using better UX design. We don’t want decisions made later in the process ideally even before they input their payment info. Users should be able to determine buying or not while they are clicking through the website and even without knowing that the subscribing entities actually do.
